Genuine Ethnic Fur
Lined Coat, circa 1900. North Chinese made. Coats like this
always were rare and expensive. There are a minimum of seams. Chinese fashion
evolved gradually, and this is an early style--notice the bell shaped sleeves and the
flare from shoulder to hem. Size is a comfortable 8. |

Genuine Ethnic Fur Lined Coat, circa 1900. View without
the wrap collar of brown fox, which is included. The coat is very
dense and beautiful lichen coloured pure silk brocade in a subtle key design. The
garment is entirely hand sewn in the tiniest stitches. The silk outer coat is also
interlined with silk wadding, beneath the fur lining. |

There are slits on both sides for walking ease, rising 16" from
the hem. This rare garment has survived only because it was stored in a steel trunk. |

Genuine Ethnic Fur Lined Coat, showing the back. The
coat measures 45" in length from the nape of the neck to the hem. The vertical
fold in the front and back should be gently steamed by a professional; the whole garment
is in lovely condition and very clean. |

cold and are wind resistant. If you follow the fall fashions, you will
have seen this look for winter. |

Notice the silky Mongolian Lamb lining. This coat is totally
lined in fur, including the sleeves. The Chinese label translates to Tin
Sun Company Fancy Fashion Excellence. |
